Well, I have never owned a rider before. Just bought 7 acres and needed something other than a push mower. I will probably need a full size tractor/shredder eventually but did not want to spend that much money right now.

After much research I bought an '09 Craftsman YT 4500 with the 26 HP Kohler powerplant and a 54" cutting deck.

Right now the left half of my property is heavily wooded and unmowed. I am using the rider to take care of the right half of the property which has far fewer trees and has been mowed by the previous owner.

So far it is doing the job well and I am enjoying learning about the new tractor.

Not my actual tractor but, this is what it looks like:

Dirty so far! I think my son has logged more hours on it than I have. I get the old push mower, LOL!

This AM my son and I installed the Sears Deluxe Sun Shade to dry to get some relief from the sun. I was concerned about it inhibiting ingress and egress from the mower but, was pleasantly surprised that it is high enough that that is not an issue for a 6 footer. It is fairly large too so it should offer some good shade. Click on the link to see what it looks like:

Well, this one may seem a little silly but, hopefully it will help beat 108 degree heat. I will probably get this system installed later this AM when I get off work and I will report on how it works as soon as I can.

haha, the misting system looks like it would be a nice thing to have when riding for hours at a time.
